Do they have meaning? You know a new Corvette comes out and in all the promo material is a body color license plate with some seemingly random numbers. If I was in charge it would be some kind of secret code or have some kind of meaning. because why not. I can’t be the only one to think of this.

I’ve always wondered where car design would be if the government didn’t say cars had to have certain things.

Design a car that doesn’t have headlights. Design a car with no windows. Design a car with no spot for a license plate.

What if cars were like boats where the registration number was just stickered on the sides and back?

I have heard that, in some cases, the plates are filled with letters/numbers which are roughly symmetrical and a kind of palindrome is used in the sequence. Why? That way, if the ad agency needs to flip the photo, either for the image or to use the same photo in LHD/RHD markets, it doesn’t look too obvious.

To us yes. But to someone that had never seen a car, not necessarily.

People that are missing eyes or eye holes seem ugly because we’re used to people having eyes. Doesn’t mean they’re actually ugly, it’s just that we have no compression of how it couldn’t be ugly.
